BUT WHY ALSO COMPUTER & MOBILE PHONE ?

EFFECTS OF COMPUTER AND MOBILE
PHONE USE ON STRESS, SLEEP...

Abstract
The overall aim of this thesis was to explore possible associations between information and communication technology (ICT) use and mental health symptoms among young adults. By “ICT” in this context is meant mainly computer and mobile phone use. The thesis contains three longitudinal cohort studies using self-report questionnaires and one qualitative interview study.
Study I was performed in a cohort of medical and computer science students (19–25 years old, n=1127). Prospective associations w... merere found between ICT use at baseline and stress, sleep disturbances, and symptoms of depression at 1 year follow-up.
Study II explored possible explanations for the associations between ICT and mental health symptoms by means of qualitative interviews with 32 high ICT users (20–28 years old). The concepts and ideas of the young adults generated a model showing several possible paths for associations between ICT exposure and mental health symptoms.
In studies III and IV, parts of this model were tested in a population-based cohort of young adults (20–24 years old, n=4163). In Study III, a high frequency of mobile phone use at baseline was a risk factor for reporting sleep disturbances in the men and symptoms of depression in both sexes at 1 year follow-up.
The risk for reporting mental health symptoms at follow-up was greatest among those who reported that they perceived accessibility via mobile phones as stressful. In Study IV, duration of computer use was prospectively associated with sleep disturbances in the men while for the women often using the computer without breaks was a prospective risk factor for stress, sleep disturbances, and symptoms of depression, at follow-up.
High duration of emailing and chatting at leisure was a risk factor for sleep disturbances in the men and for most mental health outcomes in the women. Daily computer gaming for 1–2 hours was associated with an increased risk for symptoms of depression in the women. Often using the computer late at night and consequently losing sleep was associated with several mental health outcomes in both sexes. These findings suggest that sleep is an important mediating factor to focus on in future studies.
Public health prevention strategies aimed at young adults could include information and advice about healthy ICT use, for example, advice about the importance of taking breaks and ensuring recovery when using e.g., computers intensively, and advice to set limits for own (and others) accessibility. In conclusion, the main findings in the thesis suggest that intensive ICT use can have an impact on mental health in young adults.
Frequent mobile phone use was a prospective risk factor for reporting sleep disturbances in the men and symptoms of depression in both sexes. Intensive computer use (“intensive” in terms of duration of use or continuous use without breaks) was a prospective risk factor for reporting sleep disturbances in the men and stress, sleep disturbances, and symptoms of depression in the women. Combined intensive computer and mobile phone use enhanced associations with mental health symptoms.

WHY ALSO WIRELESS ROUTER !?

DANGER FROM YOUR WIRELESS ROUTER...

The debate surrounding the relative dangers of electromagnetic radiation has raged on for years. As technology has become more and more advanced, and more electromagnetic fields, or EMFs, are created, the fact that electromagnetic radiation can be harmful cannot be ignored. Wireless routers, one of the most convenient products in homes across the world, can actually contribute high levels of EMF exposure to your home.
The Dangers of EMF Exposure
When your body's electrical system is altered, there are several different health problems that can occur. These include brain tumors, exhaustion, heart problems, and a higher risk of cancer, including leukemia. Furthermore, people have reported other health conditions associated with EMF exposure, but research has not yet confirmed the long-term effects that electromagnetic radiation from household items can have on an individual.

Why Are Wireless Routers So Dangerous?

When it comes to the dangerous technological devices within your home, wireless routers contribute a great deal to EMF exposure. Wireless routers allow electronics to communicate without the inconvenience of wires, but in doing so they are spewing massive amounts of radiation throughout your home. In fact, an average wireless network can transmit radiation at the same frequency as a microwave.
But the intensity of the radiation is not the only danger. Whereas other electronic devices are turned off at some point during the day or night, wireless routers are on all the time. This results in your home being covered in EMFs every hour of every day. Furthermore, the wireless networks of your neighbors may be infringing upon your space. If you can pick up a neighbor's wireless signal on your laptop, then their EMFs are infiltrating your home.

What Can You Do to Protect Your House?

The best thing you can do to avoid overexposure to EMFs is to cut down on the amount of electronic devices that you use. If you are not using a particular computer, printer, scanner, television, microwave, or other technological gadget, go ahead and turn it off and unplug it. Unplugging it is important, because even if these devices are off they can still emit radiation.
Furthermore, if possible, forgo a wireless router and stick with the traditional, non-wireless alternative. This may be a challenge if you have several laptops that you use to connect to the Internet, but if you primarily use a desktop you should be able to achieve this without any problem. Additionally, opt for a printer that plugs into your computer, rather than one that connects electronically. If you cannot go without a wireless router, try to limit EMFs in other areas of your home by unplugging anything you are not currently using.
Wireless routers can be a dangerous source of EMFs, and if you can do without them, you can greatly improve your family's health. If not, cutting back on the use of other electronics can help reduce the total radiation to which your family is exposed.

Note: Cutting things from the house is sometimes possible, sometimes impossible, THATS WHY there is easier way to do it without cutting down anything. Please click the link below.
